Two brothers, Christian and Alejandro Treviño, accused of killing their stepfather and dumping his body in McAllen, returned to court Monday. They have been in custody since January 2022, when authorities discovered the body of Gabriel Quintanilla.
According to the Pharr Police Department, the brothers allegedly attacked Quintanilla after a younger relative accused him of inappropriate touching. At the time of their arrest, Christian was 17 and Alejandro 18.
On Monday, their attorney told the judge they are awaiting DNA test results before proceeding. The evidence, taken from a GMC truck, reportedly includes brass knuckles used in the assault.
A third man, Juan Melendez, also faces charges in connection with Quintanilla’s death. Melendez, who was released on bond in August 2022, appeared in court the same day.
