On August 16, 2025, a significant incident involving a Frontier Airlines Airbus A320 (tail number N365FR) caused major delays at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. During pre-departure ramp activity, a ground air-conditioning hose was reportedly sucked into the aircraft’s #1 engine, where it was shredded.
The A320, which had arrived from Philadelphia earlier that morning, was preparing for a flight to LaGuardia when the damage occurred. This rendered the aircraft non-serviceable, forcing a delay of approximately 9 hours as passengers were transferred to a replacement aircraft.
The Airbus, an A320-251N with CFMI LEAP-1A26 engines, had been in service for 5.7 years. The ground crew quickly responded, and while the incident caused some confusion, it was confirmed that the affected aircraft was an A320, not an A321 as initially reported. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The event highlights the potential risks during ramp operations, but safety protocols ensured minimal risk to passengers and staff.
