Authorities confirmed the recovery of a weapon believed to have been used in the fatal shooting of activist Charlie Kirk. Investigators found a high-powered bolt-action rifle in a wooded area near the Utah Valley University campus, and ballistics tied several spent and unspent rounds from the rifle to the shooting.
The ammunition included troubling engravings referencing internet memes and anti-fascist slogans—phrases like “HEY FASCIST, CATCH!” and “Bella Ciao,” alongside imagery drawn from gaming culture. These markings are now under analysis as possible clues to motive.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect firing from a rooftop before fleeing into nearby woods, where the rifle was located wrapped in a towel. Investigators also found physical evidence—such as footwear, palm, and forearm impressions—that strengthens their case.
The revelations have met public outrage, sparking deeper conversations about political violence and the influence of online subcultures as the investigation continues.
