Disturbing new footage has emerged of Thomas Crooks, the would-be assassin of Donald Trump, showing off and practicing with weapons in his home. Crooks was filmed dry-firing a handgun in a tactical stance, mimicking the motions of an attack. He mounted a phone to capture a handgun on his bed, then picked up a longer firearm and appeared to engage an imaginary target.
In one clip, he aims at a paper target pinned to the wall, taking aim and “firing” with the unloaded gun. The setting is sparse except for a poster and bare walls, amplifying the chilling spontaneity of the scenes. The videos were reportedly recovered from Crooks’s deleted online files by public figures after his attack.
These recordings deepen concerns about premeditation and radicalization, providing a stark window into the mindset of someone planning violence. In the wake of these revelations, many are calling for greater scrutiny of how extremist behavior is monitored online.
