For several days, a little girl appeared at my front door every noon. She’d stand there clutching a teddy bear, gaze into the doorbell camera, wait a moment, and then run off. I never saw any adults or cars nearby, and each day my concern grew. Why was this small child wandering alone?
Unable to ignore it any longer, I went to the police and showed them the footage. They quickly found her family and called her mother in. To my surprise, the woman laughed when she heard my story.
She explained that her daughter was simply curious — they lived nearby and often passed my house. “Every time we walk by, she says she wants to say hello to you,” the mother said.
Then I remembered: months earlier, I’d given the girl an apple after she fell. Ever since, she’d been stopping by daily to wish me a good day — a simple act of gratitude I’d never expected.
