Limp Bizkit Band Member Passed Away At 48

Sam Rivers, bassist and founding member of the nu-metal band Limp Bizkit, passed away at the age of 48 on October 18, 2025. The band announced his death on social media, describing him as “the soul of the sound” and “the heart of every song.” Although the official cause of death has not been confirmed, reports indicate he suffered a heart attack.

Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Rivers was instrumental in shaping Limp Bizkit’s signature sound since the band’s formation in 1994. He played on all of the band’s albums, including Significant Other (1999) and Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water (2000), which solidified their success in the music scene. In 2015, Rivers left the band due to liver disease linked to excessive alcohol use. After receiving a liver transplant in 2017, he returned to the group in 2018 and continued his musical career until his passing.

The band expressed their sorrow over losing a close friend and bandmate, highlighting his musical legacy and lasting influence on the rock scene.
