Raja Raghuvanshi’s honeymoon in Shillong turned into a chilling tragedy. He arrived on May 20 with his new wife, Sonam, expecting a peaceful start to married life, but days later he was discovered dead in a remote canyon, his body decomposed and his belongings missing.
Initial suspicion focused on Raj Kushwaha, believed to be Sonam’s secret lover. Yet, as investigators reviewed hotel records, calls, and witness statements, a darker picture surfaced: authorities allege that Sonam herself orchestrated the killing. She reportedly manipulated Raj with promises of a future together and enlisted three others—Vishal Singh, Anand Kurmi, and Akash Rajput—offering financial rewards.
Police say she tracked Raja’s movements and guided the group before the fatal ambush on May 23 or 24. Afterward, Raj returned home, unaware Sonam was allegedly involved with yet another man. Phone records linked her to the plot, leading to her June 8 arrest and reported confession. The case shocked many across India.
