Seven People Dead in Fort Lauderdale-Sarasota Crime — Details

Authorities uncovered a shocking multi-city killing spree in Florida after a welfare check at a condominium in Fort Lauderdale revealed two victims — a woman and her teenage son — who had been murdered. Investigators soon realized the attacker had already left the area and continued the violence about 150 miles away in Sarasota County.

Later that same morning, gunfire erupted in a quiet residential neighborhood. A man returning home was shot outside his house, and deputies who entered the residence discovered three more victims inside — his wife, adult son, and a family friend.

Police identified the suspect among the dead: a 51-year-old man who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators believe he first killed his former girlfriend and her son in Fort Lauderdale, then drove south to target her relatives, effectively wiping out nearly the entire immediate family.

The rampage left only a few surviving relatives facing devastating loss. Authorities continue examining the suspect’s motive, which remains unclear, while reviewing video evidence and witness accounts as the investigation remains active.
