A terrible loss for William and Harry We mournfully announce the passing of close family member

At 82, Lord Robert Fellowes—one of the most trusted figures of Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana—has passed away. As the uncle of Prince William and Prince Harry and the husband of Lady Jane Spencer, Diana’s sister, Fellowes maintained a deep connection to the British Royal Family. The couple shared three children: Laura, Eleanor, and Alexander.

During the turbulent 1990s, marked by Princess Diana’s divorce from then-Prince Charles, Princess Anne’s separation from Mark Phillips, and the breakup of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, Lord Fellowes served as the Queen’s private secretary. He also played a vital role in coordinating the response to the 1992 Windsor Castle fire, which damaged 115 rooms.

After Princess Diana, Dodi Fayed, and others were involved in the tragic 1997 Paris car crash, Fellowes helped manage the aftermath. Though Mohamed Al-Fayed later accused him of involvement in a conspiracy, he strongly denied the claims. Remembered as a man of integrity, humour, and wisdom, Lord Fellowes leaves a lasting legacy within the royal household.
