At least 16 bodies have been found in the same Houston bayou, raising public concern about a possible serial killer. The most recent discovery occurred on October 8, when a dive team recovered a body from White Oak Bayou. Authorities say there are no clear signs of foul play, and causes of death remain undetermined. In mid-September, five bodies were found in one week, followed by another on September 26. Although the frequency has alarmed residents, police have not linked the cases.
Mayor John Whitmire called the situation disturbing but warned against rumors, stressing that there is no evidence of a serial killer. He noted that Houston’s vast network of waterways often leads to accidental drownings, particularly affecting the homeless population, whose deaths are sometimes unreported. Police officials echoed that no connections have been established.
Victims include men and women between their twenties and sixties. Among them is 20-year-old student Jade McKissic, found on September 15 after being reported missing.
