The Nelons, a beloved gospel family in the United States, tragically lost seven members in a plane crash in Wyoming. Among the victims were Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, their daughter Amber, and son-in-law Nathan Kistler. Family associates Melanie Hodges, and pilot Larry Haynie with his wife Melissa, also died. Autumn Nelon Streetman, the only remaining member of the group, was not on the plane.
The band was en route to Alaska for the Gaither Homecoming Cruise when the accident occurred. Witnesses reported the plane crashed in flames, sparking a wildfire, and emergency crews confirmed there were no survivors. Autumn shared a heartfelt statement thanking fans for their prayers and support for her, her husband Jamie, their unborn son, and Jason’s parents, Dan and Linda Clark.
A video captured Jason smiling and speaking with his family and the pilot on a Nebraska runway shortly before departure. The plane, a Pilatus PC-12/47E, is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board. The Nelons, Grammy-nominated and Gospel Music Hall of Fame inductees, leave a lasting legacy with songs like I Shall Not Be Moved and We Shall Wear a Robe and Crown.
