What should have been a joyful honeymoon in the misty hills of Shillong turned into a horrifying tale of death and betrayal. On May 20, businessman Raja Raghuvanshi arrived with his new bride, Sonam, full of hope and excitement. But within days, his body was discovered decomposing in a canyon, stripped of identification, his wedding ring, and his life.
Initial suspicion fell on Raj Kushwaha, rumored to be Sonam’s secret lover, but investigations revealed a far darker truth: Sonam herself orchestrated the murder. Manipulating Raj with lies and false promises, she convinced him to betray Raja. She also recruited three other accomplices—Vishal Singh, Anand Kurmi, and Akash Rajput—promising financial gain for their roles in the deadly plot.
Between May 23 and 24, Raja was ambushed in a remote gorge, his final moments consumed by cruelty. Afterward, Sonam betrayed Raj as well, revealing her pattern of manipulation and control.
Phone records eventually exposed the scheme, leading to her arrest on June 8. The shocking case exposed greed and ruthless ambition lurking behind the façade of love, leaving the nation stunned and serving as a chilling warning about deception and betrayal.
