Marathon Runner Diagnosed With Terminal Cancer Warns Against Ignoring Small Symptoms

A 51-year-old marathon runner from Essex, UK, is now urging everyone to pay close attention to their bodies after a shocking cancer diagnosis changed his life. Lee Rawlinson, a dedicated runner and father of two, first noticed a dull ache in his lower abdomen early in the year but dismissed it as stress. Even after visiting his doctor and having routine tests, nothing seemed wrong, and he continued his life as usual. By September, the pain became so intense that he went to the emergency room, where scans revealed terminal pancreatic cancer that had already spread to his liver.

Lee’s prognosis means he has only months to live, and he is focused on making “magical memories” with his family during what he calls his last Christmas. He wants others to learn from his experience by not ignoring even minor or persistent symptoms. He stresses that early detection can make a huge difference and urges people to seek medical advice if something feels off, even if it seems insignificant at first.
