Five people — including Matthew Perry’s personal assistant and two doctors — have been charged in connection with the Friends actor’s death.
Officials allege that Perry, who died in October 2023, was injected with ketamine by his assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, using syringes supplied by Dr. Salvador Plasencia. Two other defendants, Dr. Mark Chavez and an acquaintance named Erik Fleming, are also implicated, along with a woman known as the “Ketamine Queen” — Jasveen Sangha.
Prosecutors accuse the group of exploiting Perry’s addiction to profit from distributing the powerful anesthetic. Plasencia allegedly encouraged and taught Iwamasa — who had no proper medical training — how to administer ketamine, while Chavez admitted helping supply the drug via fraudulent prescriptions. The death was officially attributed to “acute effects of ketamine,” according to autopsy reports.
The case has sent shockwaves through the entertainment community, highlighting the dangers of substance abuse and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals, even those in the public eye. Authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Perry’s tragic passing.
