A deadly stabbing spree at a Walmart in Traverse City, Michigan, was stopped by the quick action of ex-Marine Derrick Perry, who held the suspect at gunpoint until police arrived. Authorities say 42-year-old Bradford James Gille entered the store with a folding pocket knife and randomly attacked shoppers, injuring 11 people in what prosecutors call a “terror-style” assault.
As chaos erupted, Perry, who was shopping at the time, confronted Gille in the parking lot, ordering him to drop the knife. Video shows Perry and bystanders shouting commands, with one man even using a shopping cart to help corner the attacker.
Sheriff Mike Shea praised the swift intervention, noting Gille was detained within one minute of the first 911 call, preventing further harm. Victims, aged 21 to 84, were taken to Munson Medical Center; two remain in serious condition.
Walmart condemned the violence, while Gov. Gretchen Whitmer called the attack “brutal” and expressed support for the victims and community.
