A 12-year-old student in Putnam County, Florida, was arrested after deputies discovered a notebook in her school bathroom containing written death threats against several classmates.
Authorities confirmed that the notebook belonged to the student, who admitted writing the threats. Because of the nature of the messages, the case has been classified as a second-degree felony. The school immediately notified the parents and guardians of all students mentioned in the notes to ensure their safety and cooperation with the investigation.
Officials stated that while there was no evidence the student intended to carry out the threats, the language used was serious enough to warrant legal action. The student is currently in juvenile custody as the investigation continues.
The incident has sparked concern throughout the community and among educators, highlighting the growing need for early intervention, counseling, and mental health awareness in schools to prevent similar cases and ensure a safe environment for students.
