Tressa Middleton made national headlines in 2006 when, at just 12 years and 8 months old, she became one of Britain’s youngest mothers — a story that shocked the nation. Born in 1994 in Broxburn, Scotland, Tressa’s childhood was marked by poverty, neglect, and time spent in foster care from the age of four. With her mother struggling with homelessness and surrounded by older friends, she began drinking alcohol as young as eight or nine.
When her pregnancy became public, rumors spread that a local boy was the father. Years later, Tressa revealed the heartbreaking truth — she had been repeatedly abused by her older brother, Jason Middleton, since she was seven. In 2009, DNA evidence confirmed his guilt, and he was sentenced to four years in prison.
After giving birth to her daughter, Annie, Tressa spiraled into heroin addiction — spending up to $500 a day — and soon lost custody of the child. With the support of her fiancé, Darren Young, she overcame addiction, forgave her brother, and rebuilt her life. In 2018, she welcomed another daughter, Arihanna, and by 2023, she was expecting her third child. Now living in Bathgate, West Lothian, she says, “I love my four girls with all my heart. I’ll make them proud.”
