Trump Praised By Clinton, Schumer After Historic Israel-Hamas Peace Deal

Former President Donald Trump is receiving unexpected praise from Democrats and long-time political rivals after helping negotiate a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, ending two years of intense violence. The breakthrough comes after the deadly Hamas attack of October 2023, which killed 1,300 Israelis and resulted in over 250 hostages, followed by Israel’s destructive military campaign in Gaza.

Working with Qatar and other regional mediators, the Trump team secured a ceasefire that included the release of the last 20 Israeli hostages and more than 1,900 Palestinian prisoners. Former President Bill Clinton applauded Trump for his persistence, saying he and his advisers “deserve great credit” for pushing the talks forward and urging leaders to build lasting peace from this “fragile moment.”

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer also welcomed the deal, calling the hostages’ return “a wonderful day.” Other Democrats—including Hakeem Jeffries and Barack Obama—praised the ceasefire and humanitarian progress, even if without directly crediting Trump. Trump said the durability of the agreement remains uncertain but promised continued support for peace efforts.
