The dog refused to let medics approach the boy, blocking them from taking him to surgery. At first, everyone was confused—until they realized why.
The child lay pale and weak in his hospital bed, fighting for breath as doctors rushed to prepare him. Just before being wheeled away, he whispered:
— Can I say goodbye to my dog?
They agreed, and the dog was brought in. He rushed to his side, licking his hands, pressing close, eyes filled with deep understanding. But when the nurses came in, he stepped in front of the boy, growling protectively.
Then, shouts echoed in the hallway. The door opened, and a weary, dust-covered man appeared—muddy coat, worn backpack in hand.
It was the boy’s father. He had traveled tirelessly upon hearing the news, abandoning everything to reach his son in time. The dog had known he was coming.
