Mike Gill, a former top aide in the Trump administration, has died after being shot during a carjacking in Washington, DC. The incident occurred Monday night while Gill was sitting in his vehicle. The suspect shot him, stole his car, and fled, later taking a Chrysler 200 and killing its owner. Two New Carrollton police officers fatally shot the suspect early Tuesday.
Gill’s wife, Kristina, confirmed his death, saying, “His sudden passing has left a void in our lives… Mike loved being a husband and father, but also cherished being a son, brother, and friend.” They have three children: Sean, Brian, and Annika.
Gill served as chief of staff to former Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chair Christopher Giancarlo and held roles in politics and law, including work for Paul Gillmor, Ripon, AFFI, and Crowell & Moring LLP. His colleagues remembered him as compassionate and dedicated.
